  • Why should a pet owner use a professional dog walker?
    Many veterinarians and pet experts believe that keeping pets in their familiar surroundings helps to alleviate the stress imposed when their owners have to leave home. Pets are then also able to maintain their diet and exercise routine and enjoy the personal attention provided by a professional dog walker. This also eliminates the trauma of being transported and minimizes their exposure to illnesses of other animals.
  • How does a client go about getting started?
    All are welcome to call or email the office with their questions. The office number is 914-330-3638 and the email is When they’re ready to get started we have a very simple registration process that will be explained to them. We can get started as soon as the registration meeting has taken place.
  • What is a Meet and Greet?
    The registration meeting is a visit that allows the client to get to know our service's prior to the start of their service. During this visit we will decide which walker is a good fit , confirm and review the pertinent information about the home and pet care routine (e.g. vet information, emergency contact, special requests, etc.), and answer any additional questions the client may have. We do NOT provide service until this meeting has taken place.
  • What is Time To Pet?
    Time To Pet is a mobile application and companion app fro While Away Dog Walking. Clients can use the app to view and send messages, update their profile and review and request services. While Away Dog Walking uses the app to access important client/pet info and so we can send clients reports and pictures after completing a service!
  • Why does the client have to set up their account in the Time to Pet software beforr the Meet and Greet?
    We ask that all clients set up their account prior to the meet and greet so that we can discuss primary, secondary and emergency contact information as well as veterinary info too. This saves valuable time in getting all that is needed so that the Meet and Greet can focus on the pets.
  • How do you accept payment?
    We prefer ACH transfers and credit cards directly through our software system. We accept checks that are mailed to PO Box 138 Bedford NY 10526 (snail mail). We do not accept cash.
  • What about last minute requests?
    We try to accommodate all requests as best we can-same day requests are taken before noon. Requests received same day before noon have a $5 additional fee.
